RIDER INFORMATION

Lessons and hacks should be booked at least 48 hrs in advance if possible. Instructors and horses can be requested by name but we cannot guarantee to fulfill the requests.

Lessons and hacks etc. must be cancelled 48 hrs in advance. Less than 48 hours notice will incur a £5 cancellation fee. In some circumstances, eg sickness or transport breakdown the cancellation fee will be waived.

If, due to cancellations, there is only one rider remaining in a 1 hr class lesson riders may expect a ½ hr private lesson at the class rate. When one rider remains in a shared private lesson they will receive a shortened lesson at the class price =20 mins or ¾ hr. They may however be taught for the full lesson duration if requested, but this will be charged at private lesson rate.

All riders MUST wear the current BSI Standard hat - PAS - 015 or BSEN 1384. Standard hats are available for hire at 50p per session.

Boots, shoes MUST have a smooth, flat sole and a small heel. Inside zips on long boots, Trainers or Wellington Boots of any type are unacceptable.

Lessons and hacks begin when a rider meets their horse. Valuable time is spent assisting & checking safety, in adjusting girth, stirrups etc.

Summer - jodhpurs, breeches, long trousers, track suit trousers or leggings can be worn - denim jeans are NOT recommended.
Preferably long sleeved tops, but shoulders should be covered. No crop tops please. Gloves - to protect fingernails and prevent blisters.

Winter - Short coat, anorak type or preferably sweaters, sweatshirts. Any scarves must be tucked inside coats or sweatshirts and MUST be folded NOT wound round the neck. 

These rules are for YOUR safety.

Please do not wear excess jewellery while riding. Wedding/signet rings only are acceptable. Earrings or studs which cannot be removed should be covered (by a plaster) to prevent injury. Necklaces must be tucked securely inside a shirt - preferably worn with a tie.

NHEC ties are obtainable from the office.

We have a range of Newton Hall riding clothing including: sweatshirts, polo shirts, rugby shirts, baseball caps and shower proof jackets bearing the Newton Hall logo. These are available to order.
